Seeking: Artist of the Month

The Hair Station Ypsi is looking for local artists to bring new energy, beauty, and creativity into our salon space.

We’re opening up our walls to artists from Ypsilanti, Depot Town, Ann Arbor, and the surrounding community whose work feels at home in a space built on self-expression, free love, acceptance, and encouragement.

Our salon is a welcoming place where people come to feel seen, refreshed, confident, and fully themselves. We’d love to feature artwork that adds to that feeling—whether it’s rustic, earthy, colorful, bold, dreamy, handmade, modern, or something completely new.

We especially welcome art that celebrates:

  • Women, identity, confidence, healing, and self-love

  • Community, connection, and individuality

  • Nature, vintage or rustic details, local culture, and creative expression

  • Work that starts conversations and makes people feel something

What We’re Looking For

We are seeking an Artist of the Month who can display work that is ready to hang in a busy salon environment.

Please make sure your artwork includes:

  • Secure framing, canvas backing, or another safe way to hang each piece

  • Clearly marked pricing for any work that is for sale

  • Your name and social media, website, or contact information

  • A QR code or simple payment option for customers who want to purchase directly from you

  • A brief artist bio or description of your work, if available

Small Goods & Holdable Items

We also have limited space for local makers with small, sellable items that guests can pick up, browse, and purchase while they are in the salon.

We would love to consider items such as:

  • Handmade jewelry, earrings, rings, bracelets, and hair accessories

  • Candles, incense, wax melts, room sprays, and locally made soap

  • Stickers, postcards, greeting cards, art prints, zines, and small journals

  • Books, poetry collections, local publications, and gently curated vintage books

  • Records, CDs, cassettes, playlists, or locally made music merchandise

  • Ceramics, mugs, small planters, trinket dishes, and decorative objects

  • Keychains, patches, pins, magnets, tote bags, and small apparel items

  • Crystals, pressed-flower art, small textiles, embroidery, or crochet pieces

  • Handmade self-care items such as bath salts, lip balm, body oils, or scrubs

  • Original mini paintings, sculptures, or other one-of-a-kind pieces

All items should be clearly labeled with prices and include an easy way for customers to pay you directly—such as a QR code for Venmo, Cash App, PayPal, Square, your online shop, or another preferred payment method.
